LET’S MAKE SOLUTIONS, NOT MORE PROBLEMS
It took longer than we hoped, but Samantha is finally part of the Jones Jones team and we’re thrilled to have her intellect and outlook on our side.
Originally from Jamaica, Samantha’s family came to New York in the 60s. Her grandfather, a lawyer who served as minister of housing in Jamaica, set the bar high for Samantha and her siblings. “My older brother had his sights set on law. When that didn’t pan out, I decided to earn my degree for the both of us,” she says.
While attending law school in Michigan, Samantha’s sister began battling a serious illness. Without hesitation, she transferred to Pace University in order to be closer to home. Graduating alongside Sarah Thomas, neither realized they’d both go on to specialize in workers’ compensation. Years later, thanks to a little kismet, Sarah was able to bring her talented classmate on board. “Her passion is getting it done and getting it done right,” says Sarah.
As for Samantha’s outlook, she believes in fair and realistic outcomes. “Unpredictable things happen, but I will always give 100%. That’s my promise to every client,” she says.
This can-do philosophy extends to family life, the center of Samantha’s world. Raising two young children –– one a budding math star, the other a promising athlete –– she instills the power of a positive mindset. “Nothing is impossible. I always tell my kids, if there’s a problem, let’s find a way to fix it. Let’s make solutions, not more problems.”
Clear communication is something her clients appreciate as well. Never leaving critical details to an email or text, Samantha is a firm believer in picking up the phone. “It ensures nothing gets lost in translation.”
An avid music lover, Samantha enjoys everyone from Jay-Z to Kenny Rogers. “Music is therapy for me and my escape when I need one,” she smiles. But don’t count her out of your adrenaline-fueled adventures. A daredevil on the water, Samantha’s been known to dive off 30-foot cliffs on vacation.
When asked what she enjoys most about Jones Jones, Samantha doesn’t hesitate. “I love the people! The work is engaging, the atmosphere is wonderful, and everyone here is so supportive.”
While Samantha is firmly entrenched in law for the foreseeable future, she’s hoping there might be a Jamaican track star in the Sharpe household. That’s just the kind of retirement this amazing mom deserves.
