NOW & ZEN
You’ll never catch Kassy bragging about graduating at the top—the very top—of her law school class, so we’re happy to do it for her. “I went to law school on the advice of teachers,” she says, “but came to love how it revolves around logic, yet focuses on people and their needs.”
Originally from New York State, Kassy’s parents moved the family to the north of Ireland when she was 13. She earned her law degree from Queen’s University, Belfast and ultimately found her calling in workers’ compensation
As Supervising Partner at Jones Jones, Kassy counsels clients and attorneys on the intricacies of workers’ compensation and insurance defense law and has spearheaded numerous settlement initiatives for national clients.
She enjoys educating employers and carriers on the many facets of this specialty, most recently on issues surrounding electronic claims filing and strategies for building a successful settlement program.
“I love how I’m challenged to deal with so many diverse issues. I work hard to produce the best results possible, always be accessible, and keep clients in the loop. In this field, effective communication is key.”
Her meticulous nature and knack for problem solving are appreciated, not only by clients, but by the colleagues she mentors and collaborates with daily. “The environment at Jones Jones is very special. My co-workers are hardworking and knowledgeable, but also extremely amiable and willing to share that knowledge.”
To stay sharp, Kassy practices yoga, enjoying both the physical fitness and mental clarity it affords. “It makes me a calmer, more level-headed person. It allows me to return to work fully recharged.”
Now residing in Brooklyn with her husband and daughter, Kassy also enjoys traveling and taking advantage of the city’s vibrant culinary scene. Restaurant meals and long-distance travel are a bit trickier with a kid in tow, but it turns out that multitasking and organizational skills are just as useful in domestic realms as professional ones. “I hope to impart upon my daughter a love of travel and an appreciation for different cultures and ways of living,” she says
