As the daughter of proud military parents, Hanaiya spent her younger years in New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina. From there, she headed off to the University of Maryland to pursue a degree in journalism when something caught her attention.
“I noticed that the journalists I admired most all had legal backgrounds,” she says. “Their insights helped clarify complex issues while gearing the discussion toward solutions. I knew I wanted to do the same.”
After attending law school with Yvie Cherenfant, the friends stayed in touch as Hanaiya gained a wealth of experience across industries from pharmacy to finance. Thanks to Yvie’s referral, Hanaiya’s expertise now serves our diverse clientele at Jones Jones.
When it comes to client relationships, for Hanaiya, it starts and ends with ethics. “Along with honest legal advice, it’s important to bring a sense of compassion to every case I handle,” she says. "I strive to foster open communication, deeply understand my client's needs, and develop strategies that serve their best interests while maintaining a collaborative spirit with opposing parties."
These qualities make her a trusted ally, always ready to listen and engage with clients and colleagues alike.
Outside of work, faith and family are the center of Hanaiya’s world. “I’m the mama of two amazing littles,” she says. “They’ve been the greatest blessing in life and have added so much to the character of who I am.”
Most weekends include fellowship with family and friends, along with spending some quiet time in prayer and worship. Hanaiya also serves as master of ceremonies at women’s summits, weddings, birthdays, and other milestone events––spreading warmth and optimism everywhere she goes.
Downtime often includes unwinding with a compelling series or an inspiring podcast. “My favorite show right now is 'The Chosen,'” she shares. “It’s so captivating and a nice way to relax after a hectic day at the office.”
With kindness and conviction guiding her journey, Hanaiya is poised to make a powerful impact in the legal field and in the lives of those around her.
